To make
persuasive progress, some way has to be found to assign people exogenously to
different feelings. We design a randomized trial. In it, some subjects have their
happiness levels increased, while those in a control group do not. A rise in happiness
leads to greater productivity in a paid piece-rate task. The effect is large; it can be
replicated; it exists in male and female subsamples; and it is not a reciprocity effect.
We discuss the implications for economics.

If Western psychologists do not know more, if they cannot explore more of the consciousness aspect than such as it manifests itself in the organism, then they know so little that it is scarcely worth knowing. That such is the state of affairs is evident also from the fumbling attempts made in psychology. From the esoteric point of view, it is not even one per cent of the consciousness aspect that they study. They do not know that there is a superconscious, and the learned dispute whether there is a subconscious. Their discussions all the time revolve around unprovable assumptions. Esoterics makes it clear that all consciousness expressions simultaneously are matter and energy phenomena, and that only if you are able to study those phenomena objectively is it possible to reach any exact results. And such research can be done only by causal and higher selves.
2Without a knowledge of man’s various envelope consciousnesses and his different kinds of molecular consciousness, psychology (like philosophy) is little more than a system of fictions. Psychiatry is even in a worse position, being quite unable to define the various kinds of so-called mental disease.
3At the present stage of mankind’s development, the six different kinds of consciousness of the emotional envelope are of greater significance than our rudimentary mental consciousness breeding conceit.
4Psychologists have to start learning the basics. Every expression of emotional consciousness is either attractive or repulsive, manifests itself as desire or aversion, love or hatred. Generally, aversion predominates until mankind has acquired a knowledge of life and has learnt the simplest conditions of a communal life without friction.
5The psychologists, without a knowledge of man’s different envelopes and their different kinds of consciousness, have great difficulty in explaining the “self”. Perhaps they have experienced that they can observe their organism, their emotions, and their thoughts, and realize that the self, being able to do this, is something different from these kinds of consciousness. The self discovers itself as the one acting, speaking, feeling, and thinking, and that this central self as the possessor of its envelopes also is responsible for its actions.
