they need their strings changed. After a while, this can become somewhat
expensive because this is a service that will be charged for. How often you
change the strings on your guitar depend on the rate at which you perspire (the
grease on your fingers can erode the strings) and how much you play. Electric
guitar strings come in different gauges. The gauge of the smallest string (e)
determines the gauge of the strings. They range form 9 gauges to 13 gauges.
The higher the gauge, the better the tone of the guitar. Most beginners start out
with 9 gauges because the lower gauges are easier to play and easier to bend.
Changing guitar strings is not as hard as one might think, which you will learn in
the following steps. In order it accomplish this task, you will need a new set of
guitar strings (the low E and the e string are different; the low E is the largest
string in diameter and the e string is the smallest in diameter; the e string goes
last), wire cutters, and, obviously, your guitar. (You may also need a screwdriver,
depending on your guitar.)
